NJCM Names New Executive Director - Al LiCata
(Trenton, NJ) The New Jersey Conference of Mayors(NJCM), the nation's oldest statewide organization established to represent Mayors and Municipalities in the Country, has selected Former Bernards Township Mayor, Albert "Al" LiCata to serve as Executive Director. LiCata was chosen from a large pool of candidates and after several rounds of screenings.
"On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am pleased to welcome Al as our new Executive Director." states NJCM President and Fanwood Mayor, Colleen Mahr.
"Al brings a diverse background in Government, the Private Sector and Non Profit, he is the right person to lead NJCM at a time of great challenges to all municipalities in New Jersey." adds Mahr.
LiCata, a Somerset County native, served in elected office for six years from 2000 - 2005. LiCata also founded and serves as Executive Director of the Bernards Township regional Chamber of Commerce, an organization that has grown to over three hundred members. LiCata will be stepping down from his company, Renaissance Communications, a public relations, marketing, advertising and special events company to assume the New Jersey Conference of Mayors responsibilities.
Known for his charitable efforts, LiCata formed the largest private Hurricane Katrina relief effort to Houma, Louisiana collecting and shipping millions of dollars of supplies to this hard hit community. Since then, he has worked to develop tourism trade between the two communities and economic opportunities as well.
LiCata was honored by the Conference of Mayors as the 2008 NJCM Former Mayor of the Year. He has been active with the planning of the 46th Annual NJCM Spring Conference to be held at the Borgata In Atlantic City this April 29, 30 & May 1, 2009.
"I look forward to introducing some new concepts and features to the NJCM to help increase public awareness of the Organization, our positions on local and state matters of the day, innovative ways to provide educational opportunities for our Mayors that can help them meet the challenges associated with leading in these challenging times. Now more than ever, the NJCM is an information source and unifying voice for the Mayors and Municipalities of New Jersey," remarks LiCata.

I look forward to bringing fresh ideas and enthusiasm to the Conference as we enter our 46th year of service to our Mayors and Municipalities, throughout this great State," concludes Al LiCata.
