NJCM Offers Condolences to Family and Friends of Assemblyman Alex DeCroce
The New Jersey Conference of Mayors offers our condolences to the family and friends of Longtime Assemblyman Alex DeCroce.
DeCroce, 75 of Parsippany collapsed and died inside the Statehouse late Monday night shortly after the 214th Legislature held its final voting session of the evening.
Born in Morristown in 1936, DeCroce was a graduate from Boonton High School and attended Seton Hall. He was sworn in to his Assembly seat of the 26th Legislative District in 1989 and had been the Republican minority leader since 2003. DeCroce was the state’s longest serving member of the Assembly.
Governor Christie stated early this morning: “He was one of the most kind, considerate, and trustworthy people I have ever had the pleasure to know. He was an enormously accomplished Legislator and a tremendous servant to the people of New Jersey.”
Instead of the anticipated State of the State address scheduled for 3:00pm today, the Governor will be expected to meet his constitutional requirement and address the Legislature, most likely with a brief eulogy about DeCroce.
