New Jersey must have a telecommunications network that extends affordable broadband service to every region of our state, in both rural and urban areas, to affluent and lower income populations alike, with special attention paid to key civic institutions including schools, libraries, medical facilities and government offices. To ensure that service, we support telecom taxes that do not favor one technology or provider over another. We ask for fair tax and licensing statutes that provide a level playing field for all providers, encourage competiti on and investment. We fully support the immediate investment of federal stimulus funds to accomplish these goals and improve our telecommunications resources.
