Housing

Every family deserves a decent home. We support full funding for housing assistance programs like Section 8, the HOME Partnership Program and HOPE VI Housing. The NJCM endorses zoning processes that encourage the construction of affordable housing, put the public interest above private profit and equitably share the costs of infrastructure improvements related to new development. We believe in the power of leveraging private, foundation and public resources to meet the economic and housing development needs of our communities. Using tools such as Historic Preservation, New Market Tax Credits, 501(c)3 bonds and other creative financing opportunities, these coalitions can encourage homeownership and affordable rental housing.
