Closely allied with energy policy is the important task of sustaining our natural environment. The NJCM recognizes the significant economic benefit our state receives from touris m activities related to our beautiful natural attractions like the Jersey Shore, and we acknowledge the tremendous contribution they make to our quality of life. We support policies that protect our wildlife areas as well as the quality of our air, soil and water. We encourage energy efficiency and conservation for municipalities, families and private businesses. We advocate policies that offer incentives for the adoption of clean energy practices and fund research into new environmental strategies and protections. The NJCM supports full f unding of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant program, the Green Jobs Training programs authorized by the Green Jobs Act for FY 2009 and tax code changes that will encourage energy efficiency. We stand ready to work with federal officials on effective plans to combat climate change.
